Public Health Nursing travel clinics offer immunization and health advice for people traveling out of the country. Travel products are also available. Appointments should try and be booked two months ahead of the expected date of departure.

Our early childhood program offers “Crib Talk” sessions for parents/caregivers of children less than eight months. Learn about making baby food, infant CPR, brain development and much more.

Well Baby Clinics
Well baby immunization and growth and development assessment clinics are held each Tuesday of the month and every first and third Thursday morning. To meet the needs of parents working outside the home, afternoon/evening clinics are being offered on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Baby Steps Program
Pregnancy Support Program offers extra support to pregnant women, who may not have enough money to buy food, would like to learn about eating better for baby and you, concerned about health or feeling alone and would like extra support.

Prenatal Classes
Prenatal classes are offered to women and their support person who are expecting and would like information on exercise, labour & delivery, childcare, feeding, prenatal classes will help to inform and prepare you for the parenting experience. Meet other families who are expecting a new baby and get to know your Public Health Nurse.

Children’s Rehabilitation Services

Multidisciplinary Services for families in the Hanna area include:
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech-Language Pathology
- Physical Therapy (services provided in Drumheller)
Children’s Rehabilitation Services provide child and family-centered services for children with multiple needs including:
- Assessment and evaluation for children with developmental delays.
- Intervention and individualized programming to meet the needs of each client.
- Resources and consultation for parents, caregivers, school teams, and other community partners to best meet the needs of children.
- Workshops for other professionals upon request.

South Central Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP)
(AHS Accredited Supports to the Community)
The goals of PCAP are to help mothers build and maintain healthy independent family lives; to assure children are in safe and stable homes; to prevent future births of alcohol and drug exposed children. Parent-Child Assistance program is an intensive home visitation relationship based service that has demonstrated successful outcomes. The PCAP Program involves collaborative work with community resources including such strategies as substance use and treatment, planned pregnancies and parenting programs. Trained and supervised mentors provide home visitation and support for 3 years. Mentors provide extensive and practical assistance and the long-term emotional support so important to women who are making fundamental changes in their lives. Mothers are not asked to leave the program if they relapse or experience setbacks.
Eligibility criteria: Women who use alcohol/drugs during pregnancy; are pregnant or up to 6 months post-partum; are ineffectively connected to community services; or have given birth to a child diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) or effects (FAE) and are in their childbearing years.
